Your connection may not be fast enough to send an audio or video greeting, but you can still send a moviecard, by skipping Step 4.

How to send a moviecard if you are a brand new user

Nota Bene:

  • If you want to use the full power of Cardora Send, please use the Chrome or Opera browsers, otherwise you will not be able to record an audio or video message in Step 4, 'Add Audio/Video'. You can download Chrome here for free or Opera here. We hope that Mozilla will soon make Firefox more audio-video friendly (and when pigs have been genetically modified so they can fly, Microsoft Internet Explorer too).
  • Apple does not allow any browser to upload audio or video on its mobile devices. We hope they will change this policy soon!
  • Step 5 'Add A Gift' is not working yet - but we hope to offer this soon (this at least does not depend on browser technology updates).
  1. Go to https://www.cardora.co & click SIGNUP in top right corner, under the LOGIN button.

  2. Follow the Signup instructions and look for a confirmatory email. We use an industrial-strength email sending service, but even so our email may end up in your spam trap. If you don't get a message from us pretty quickly, please check your spam or junk folders.

  3. Please click the confirmation link in the email. Then you should be taken to Step 1 on the SEND page.

  4. Follow the instructions given in Step 1 (Select A Movie) and then do all further steps in sequence.

  5. In Step 2, 'Choose Recipient', please click in the checkboxes in the right-hand panel to select recipient(s) - be sure to press the Confirm or Submit button at the end of each stage

  6. Please note that if you are using any browser other than Chrome or Opera, you won't be able record an audio or a video, but you can upload a photo/image in Step 4.

  7. If you do not wish to send either a 'selfie' video (using your webcam for instance) or a photograph (or any image) or a photo plus audio message (in Step 4), then please go straight to Step 6 (Send Moviecard).

  8. In Step 4 you have two options:
    • a. you record a webcam video. Because of browser and other system limitations the limit for a recording is 30 seconds.
    • b. you can upload image file (eg photo) and/or record an audio message using your computer's microphone. The limit for the audio recording is 30 seconds.

  9. Record a video message (optional)
    • First make sure the Video radio button is selected.
    • VERY IMPORTANT! If you are on a laptop or desktop with speakers, please turn down the volume, or you will get awful feedback as soon as you start to record. As far as we can tell, this is a defect of the browser design and not something we can fix currently.
    • If this is your first time recording on Cardora, you will need to click Allow at the top of the page to make your webcam work. Your webcam image should appear on the page and you can adjust your positioning and rehearse what you want to say. You are able to record as many takes of video as you like and then choose your favourite, but we still recommend rehearsing beforehand.
    • When you are ready to record, press the Start button. It will change into a Stop button and show you how many seconds you have left to record. If you don't press Stop, it will end the recording automatically at 30 seconds.
    • After the recording has stopped, you should see a spinning icon indicating that the video is processing and then, depending on how fast your broadband connection is, you should see your video appear in the right-hand panel. You can play your video in this panel.
    • If you wish you can record another take.
    • You will notice a flashing Choose button. When you are satisfied with one of your takes, please Select it with the radio button above the clip and then press the Choose button.
    • You have now completed your video recording and are ready to move on to Step 6. However, if after pressing Choose, you change your mind, you record new videos by pressing the Record New Video button, then go the Select & Choose process again.
  10. Upload a photo (optional)
    • First select the Audio radio button.
    • To upload a photo or image, please click the Browse button and find the image file that you want to display. Once you have seleted your file you then press Submit back on the Cardora page, and your image should appear in the page.
    • You can just send your photo if you wish, or you can add an audio message (see next help point). If you just want to add an audio message, then leave the Image Upload section blank and follow the help in the next point.

  11. Record an audio message (optional)
    • Select the Audio radio button.
    • If this is your first time recording on Cardora, you will need to click Allow at the top of the page to make your microphone work. You are able to record as many audio clips as you like and then choose your favourite, but we recommend rehearsing beforehand if you can.
    • When you are ready to record, press the Start button. It will change into a Stop button and show you how many seconds you have left to record. If you don't press Stop, it will end the recording automatically at 30 seconds.
    • After the recording has stopped, you should see a spinning icon indicating that the audio is processing and then, depending on how fast your broadband connection is, you should see your audio appear in the right-hand panel. You can play your audio in this panel.
    • If you wish you can record another take.
    • You will notice a flashing Choose button. When you are satisfied with one of your takes, please Select it with the radio button above the clip and then press the Choose button.
    • You have now completed your the audio recording (and optional photo uploading) stage and are ready to move on to Step 6. However, if after pressing Choose, you change your mind, you can record new audio clips by pressing the Record New Audio button, then go the Select & Choose process again.

  12. As mentioned, Step 5, 'Add A Gift' is not working yet, so please proceed to Step 6.

  13. Step 6, 'Send Moviecard': full instructions are given on the page.

  14. After sending your moviecard you will be taken to the post-send landing page. You should also get an email confirming that you have sent a moviecard. When your moviecard is opened the recipient(s) you will get an email notification for each person that looks at it.
